This is an obvious one for most touristy places, but the Oia crowds are no joke! When you see those cruise ships pulling into the bay, you can expect that it’s going to get busy soon! & it stays crowded until dusk since Oia is famous for its post card perfect sunsets over the caldera🌅

What’s one place you could visit over & over?✨ What’s one place you could visit over & over?✨

For me I think it would have to be Croatia. Specifically Dubrovnik. I got back from my 2nd time there a month ago & I miss it so much already, I’d go back in a heartbeat.

The old town is such a magical place. The narrow streets, terra cotta rooftops, and stunning medieval architecture makes me feel like I’m stepping back in time. Every visit to Dubrovnik feels like a new adventure, filled with history and breathtaking sights at every turn.

Have you had the chance to visit the Pearl of the Adriatic?

Ultimate Guide to Visiting Paros

Nestled in the heart of the Cyclades archipelago, Paros is a serene island known for its beautiful beaches and charming whitewashed villages. With its laid-back atmosphere and stunning scenery, this island offers the perfect escape for travellers seeking both relaxation and exploration. Here’s my guide to visiting Paros!

Know Before You Go

Before embarking on your Paros adventure, here are a few essential details to keep in mind.

Official language: Greek

Currency: Euro. €1 is equal to about $1.50 CAD

Plugs: The standard plugs in Greece are type C and F, with a voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz.

Safety: Greece is generally considered a safe destination for travelers. The violent crime rate is low, and incidents are rare. However, like in many tourist destinations, petty theft such as pickpocketing can occur, especially in crowded areas and tourist hotspots.

Staying Connected

Staying connected while traveling is essential these days and the cost to use Canadian cell phone plans while abroad is insane. For the past year, I’ve been using eSIMs, specifically Airalo. They offer a variety of affordable data plans in countless destinations. You can purchase and activate the eSIM directly from your smartphone, so you don’t have to worry about removing your original SIM and keeping it safe throughout your travels.

Airalo eSIM ensures seamless connectivity, and with iPhones even allows you to keep your usual phone number for iMessaging. Simply download the Airalo app, browse available plans, and activate your eSIM to stay connected to the people and things that matter most during your travels.

When to visit

For warm, sunny weather, the best time to visit Greece, including Paros and the rest of the Cyclades, is from May to October. July and August are peak tourist months, with high prices and crowds. To avoid the busiest periods and potentially save money, consider visiting in May, June, September, or October.

Getting There

The most popular way to reach Paros is by ferry. Ferries depart regularly from the Piraeus and Rafina ports in Athens, as well as from other islands such as Mykonos, Santorini, and Ios. The journey from Piraeus usually takes around 4-5 hours, while ferries from other islands have shorter travel times. Booking in advance is definitely recommended, especially during peak season (July & August), since ferry schedules can fill up fast.

Paros also has an airport (PAS), located a short drive from the main town of Parikia. In the summer, the airport only has direct flights from Athens. Several airlines operate regular flights to Paros, including Olympic Air, Sky Express, and Aegean Airlines.

Local Transportation

Once you arrive in Paros, getting around the island is very easy. Renting a car, scooter, or ATV are all popular options for exploring the island independently and getting to remote beaches and scenic viewpoints.

You can also use local buses, taxis, or bicycle rentals to navigate the towns and villages. Ferries and water taxis also provide transportation to neighboring islands for easy day trips!

Things to Do

Explore the towns

Take some time to explore the charming towns of Paros, each offering its own unique charm and attractions. From the picturesque fishing village of Naoussa to the mountainous village of Lefkes, you’ll discover hidden gems around every corner.

Rent an ATV

For the ultimate island adventure, rent an ATV and explore Paros at your own pace. Wind your way through scenic coastal roads, discovering hidden beaches and viewpoints as you venture off the beaten path.

Visit the Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani

Also known as the Church of a Hundred Doors, located in the heart of Parikia. This ancient Byzantine church is one of the most important religious sites in Greece, dating back to the 4th century AD.

Sunbathe on Kolymbithres Beach

Spend your days soaking up the sun and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Kolymbithres Beach, one of the island’s most popular beaches. It’s located in the bay of Naoussa and is known for its unique rock formations.

Day Trip to Antiparos

Take a short ferry ride to the neighbouring island of Antiparos and spend the day exploring its pristine beaches, charming villages, and iconic cave.

Watch the sunset from the Church of Agios Konstantinos

Head up to this classic blue-domed chapel perched up on the hill overlooking the Parikia’s bay for a stunning sunset view. Situated just a short walk from the town center, it’s a must see spot for capturing the beauty of the evening sky in Paros.

Where to Stay

For a comfortable and convenient stay in Paros, Polos Hotel is a great option. Located just steps away from the beach and less than a 10 minute walk from the Parikia ferry port, this charming hotel offers cozy accommodations and warm hospitality, making it the perfect home base for your island getaway. They have a pool area with a bar and a great buffet breakfast.

For travellers on a budget or those looking for a more social experience, Paros Backpackers is a fantastic choice. Located in Parikia, right next to Polos Hotel, this hostel offers both dormitory and private room options. It’s known for its lively atmosphere, with a rooftop terrace that offers stunning views of the sunset over the Aegean Sea. Guests can enjoy a communal kitchen, free Wi-Fi, and organised activities, making it easy to meet fellow travellers. With its friendly vibe and prime location, Paros Backpackers is perfect for those who want to explore the island while keeping costs low.

Where to Eat

Roussos Grill – Indulge in authentic Greek cuisine at Roussos Grill, where you can savor grilled meats, fresh seafood, and traditional mezes in a casual and welcoming atmosphere. ($)

Ouzeri Apostolis –  For a taste of Parian culinary delights, head to Ouzeri Apostolis. This family-run taverna serves up classic Greek dishes with a modern twist, using locally sourced ingredients and time-honored recipes. If you’re lucky, Kleopatra will come join you – she’s hoping for some of your leftovers obviously! ($$)

Aioli – Experience fine dining with a view at Aioli, where you can enjoy farm-to-table Mediterranean cuisine on a scenic terrace overlooking the sea. ($$)

Where to Drink

La Diablita Bar –  Sip on expertly crafted cocktails and enjoy live music at La Diablita Bar, a popular Mexican restaurant and bar in Parikia for locals and visitors alike.

The Dubliner Club –  Dance the night away at The Dubliner, the biggest Club in Paros. It’s a lively nightlife venue known for its energetic atmosphere with 4 bars playing different types of music.

Linardo – the ultimate hotspot for partiers looking to experience the famous Greek island nightlife. Nestled on the seaside in Naoussa, Linardo is the perfect place to dance under the stars until the early hours and admire the magnificent Aegean sunrise. *also a very popular Instagram spot during the day when it’s closed*

Conclusion

As you prepare for your Euro Summer, remember to pack your sense of adventure and a pair of flip flops! Paros awaits, ready to enchant you with its beauty and charm. Safe travels and enjoy every moment of your Greek island getaway!
